Cheryl Southern, case manager at Bridgewell’s Recuperative Care Center, was presented with the Gailanne Reeh Excellence in Care Award. The award recognizes the compassion and quality of care an employee provides to individuals supported through Bridgewell services. Working at Bridgewell since 2018, her work involves supporting people who are in recovery – working to make them feel respected, valued and have a reason to make changes in their lives.
The people in her care have shared they feel safe, valued and important working with Cheryl. During the holidays, she worked to secure donations so people in her care could have a holiday experience they have not had before – personal, festive and shared with their Bridgewell family. She is credited with saving the lives of two guests at Recuperative Care in her short time with us – one who was revived with Narcan after having overdosed at the program, another who was choking on food and received the life-saving Heimlich Maneuver.
