  • Strategies for Supporting Youth after a Caregiver’s Overdose

    Virtual Live Workshop

Many people who witness or experience the fallout of an overdose, whether fatal or non-fatal, report experiencing the event as traumatic. This can be especially true for young people who often do not understand what is happening or why. When children and youth do not have adequate support in the aftermath of a potentially traumatic event they often internalize the experience in unhealthy and potentially harmful ways.

  • Children Who Act Out Their Plan

    Virtual Live Workshop

Children who act out sexually can present a challenging and complex diagnostic picture. This workshop will present a typology of sexual behavior problems in children, contrasting each category to what would be developmentally usual and expected. Implications for placements and treatment planning will be discussed for impulsive, attachment-seeking, neuro-atypical, trauma reactive, compulsive and exploitative sexual behaviors. We will focus on children in alternative care such as foster care, special school settings, residential treatment centers and inpatient hospitals.
