Northeast Regional Director of the Department of Developmental Services Mandy Chalmers will be retiring after a 44 year career with the Department of Developmental Services.
Mandy started her career at the Fernald Developmental Center and then worked at the DDS Central Office as Chief of Staff to the Commissioner. Mandy was DDS’s go-to staff person for any difficult assignments. In 1985, she returned to Fernald as the Interim Superintendent while a national search for a new superintendent was conducted. She was later asked to go to the John T. Berry Developmental Center to facilitate its successful closure.
As the Northeast Regional Director, Mandy has worked in partnership with all of the providers in the Northeast Region. Bridgewell had a strong collaborative and supportive relationship with Mandy and will miss her extraordinary leadership of the Northeast DDS Region.
For a number of Bridgewell’s Leadership Team, she has been a positive presence for much of their careers. She has been there over the years for counsel and advice during difficult times, as well as encouragement to move forward with new programs and services. Above all, Mandy has been there for the individuals that we support.
Mandy’s dedication to the individuals served by the Northeast Region as well as their families is evident in everything that she does. Bridgewell was thrilled to be able to host this celebration of her career and to wish her a retirement filled first with a well-deserved rest and wonderful new adventures!
