Three of Bridgewell’s Independent Living programs went to the Duck Boats in Boston for a fun outing. Everyone was full of smiles and it was a first for most. A few of our residents became the captain and drove the boat! They couldn’t stop talking about how fun it was even in the heat.
Independent Living, formerly Individual Supports, provide housing and assistance for people with developmental disabilities, including those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, who are able to live with varying levels of independence. People live on their own or with a roommate, primarily in subsidized housing units. Bridgewell staff assists with health care coordination, medication management, nutrition, household chores, financial management, community recreation, social participation and other life skills training and support. Each person’s support level is based on personal need and preference.
Bridgewell assists over 140 people live independently in North Shore and the Metro North Area.
