In the past six years, Bridgewell has opened 15 new homes. Each home is fully accessible with oversize bedrooms, living space and some homes have oversized garages to permit easy van access. This specialized design allows people who would otherwise be confined to a nursing home to live in their own home in the community.
This summer, Bridgewell opened its new START Emergency and Planned Respite home on Seagirt Avenue in Saugus. START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Respite and Treatment) Clinical Support Services provides short-term community-based crisis prevention, intervention and behavior support planning for individuals who are dually diagnosed with developmental and psychiatric disabilities.
Recently, Bridgewell held an open house at the Seagirt Avenue home. The Seagirt Avenue duplex was built by Caruso and McGovern Construction, Inc and is fully accessible as well. Each unit can hold up to four residents and both sides have a kitchen, dining room and open living areas. However, the two units do connect without traveling outside.
It was a hot afternoon with a great crowd of neighbors, friends, family, Bridgewell and Department of Developmental Services (DDS) staff!
A special thank you to Representative Donald Wong for stopping by!
